Felipe Oliveira Baptista named Creative Director for LACOSTE.

Originally from Portugal, Felipe Oliveira Baptista left his native Lisbon at 18 to study fashion design at Kingston University in London. He soon earned his diploma and went on to study with reputable couture houses like Max Mara and Cerruti. After working as an assistant for Christophe Lemaire, he went solo for the first time.
His first presentation of his collections was a success. In 2002, the Portuguese designer received the Hyères International Festival of Fashion Arts prize. The following year, he received a grant that allowed him to launch his self-named ready-to-wear brand.
His innovative style, described himself as being “structured, graphic, sincere, and in a certain sense pure”, has made the couturier one of the most “en vogue” designers of the moment. Each new season presents itself as a new opportunity for Felipe Oliveira Baptista to show off the extent of his talent, showcasing colorful, structured and futuristic pieces.
In 2008 Nike comissioned Felipe Oliveira Baptista to do a project on their mythic hooded top AW77 - the hoddie. for this carte blanch project felipe produced a book about his workin relation to hood & sweatshirts as well as a collection garments all made of the AW77.
Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s outgoing personality, his great sense of colour and his undoubted talent to project LACOSTE brand codes in the future will be key to the ongoing renewal of the LACOSTE core sportswear and asserting the identity of new product lines such as LACOSTE L!VE. His first LACOSTE collection will be presented for Spring/Summer 2012.
