Charity organization Emmäus has inaugurated an innovative idea with a new city-wide network of 10 charity shops called ‘bric-à-bracs’ where you can go to drop off your old things and shop for bargains. The ‘one’s man trash is another’s treasure’ idea helps not only raise funds for the poor, but creates jobs to fight against poverty in Paris in a unique way, and the goal is to have a bric-à-brac in every main neighborhood of the city by the end of the year. The first store opened at the cavernous art institution 104 in January, and the warehouse-type ambiance of the 104 is the perfect setting for rummaging around for treasures amongst piles of second-hand furniture, kitchenware, electronics, all types of home décor and even clothing.
