Chez Janette, Paris

At the moment, Chez Jeanette is the one of the more popular spots for cool and young Parisians. The interior of this bar-restaurant seems to be almost the same as it was about 60 years ago, with frilly frocked girls swinging their legs in an endless Can-Can on the yellowing wall paper, slowly disintegrating mirrors and old-fashioned red satin lamp shades. But the proprietor’s love for preservation has been rewarded—just recently, culinary guide Le Fooding bequeathed Chez Jeanette with a prize for its decor.
47, Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis
