Elle Decoration x Jean Paul Gaultier

After Christian Lacroix, Maison Martin Margiela, Suite Elle Decoration, designed by Jacques Carlu, architect of the Palais de Chaillot in 1930, opens its doors to one of the French fashion's most avant-garde, Jean Paul Gaultier. Combining the blue lines of its inescapable marinara, with satin fabrics and vegetal notes, the apartment has been redesigned in partnership with Roche Bobois.
The new layout features 4 spaces, beginning with the marine note: The streak of sailor spreads and deforms the walls, drapes and wraps around the furniture, it's a small lounge morphing seaman "fading in the white of the canvas. Then, the green note: The vegetation is coming to the inside, a large garden prints on the walls! The ivy is embroidered on a couch, eats lichen woven chairs in the shade of a tree, the moss like a forest green velvet lining the stone stairway in plants and tumble in a camouflage net.Note flesh, skin satin: The stuff takes place on the walls of the chamber and form a powdery canopy ceiling. The corset dress a doll quilt show becomes giant bed. In this room, laundry, a lace mesh crosses over the carpet and the tile is reflected in the window.
Paris and the Eiffel Tower resonate and are replicated facet shaped diamonds, jewelry accessories for the sky and clouds that play on a checkerboard mirror placed on the floor, lining a sparkling re-dress gray cement. The dress went from one state to another as it passes back and forth from one room to another.
Open to the public from May 8, 2010 until October 2011
