‘HISTOIRE IDÉALE DE LA MODE CONTEMPORAINE’ VOLUME I AT LES ARTS DECORATIFS

Les Arts Decoratifs opens a new exhibition tomorrow exploring contemporary fashion, as defined by fashion historian and curator Olivier Saillard in his recent book Histoire idéale de la mode contemporaine, a detailed analysis and chronology of the last 40 years of fashion shows. Saillard attempts to pinpoint the most influential designers that have moved fashion forward, the famous ones of course, but also the lesser known ones who experimented and pushed the boundaries. Split into two parts, ‘Volume I’ will showcase creations by some of the most emblematic designers from the 70s and 80s, including Yves Saint Laurent, Issey Miyake, Karl Lagerfeld, Claude Montana, Thierry Mugler, Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, Azzedine Alaïa, Christian Lacroix, and Jean Paul Gaultier.
